Securing and protecting your files is very important but sometimes you might want to delete some of the unwanted and unnecessary files which you never gonna use it in the future but some kind of reason those files are not deleting when you try to delete it permanently.

Alternatively, you may also get some of the following messages as well while deleting the files or folder from your computer :

  1. Cannot delete file: Access is denied.
  2. The file is in use by another program or user
  3. There has been a sharing violation.
  4. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
  5. The source or destination file may be in use.
  6. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

So there are a lot of ways to delete your files and folders permanently. Here are a lot of ways to delete your files so you can remove it from your computer very easily.

Delete the undeletable & locked files using these different methods :

  1. First, reboot and see if you can delete it.
  2. Boot in Safe Mode and then try to delete it
  3. Run ChkDsk, and then see if you can delete it.
  4. Open an elevated command prompt and:
Use the del command to delete undeletable files:

del “Path of File”
Use the RMDIR or RD command to delete undeletable folders:

rd /s /q “Path of Folder”
/S : Delete all files and subfolders in addition to the folder itself. Use this to remove an entire folder tree.
/Q : Quiet – do not display Y/N confirmation
Be very careful while using this method and use the correct commands.
